AREA MANAGER Position – Maternity Cover with possibility of extension

Olympian has a long and proud history from when the club was first established in 1965. The club was among the first in getting Gymnastics established in Ireland.

Additionally this is also balanced with the fun and enjoyment of the sport through progressing one’s capabilities by overcoming the challenges of obtaining new skills combined with the sense of achievement. As gymnasts grow and develop with the club we want the most dedicated and talented ones to eventually train the next generation of gymnasts coming through, thus creating a sustainable cycle in order for future generations to benefit from the richness of the experiences at Olympian Gymnastics Club.

We are searching for an AREA MANAGER to join our team! 

As a key member of our staff, you will be responsible for the oversight of club operations to ensure an exceptional member experience! 

You will manage the run and training process for all venue employees and will be accountable for leading the team in a positive, motivating manner with a continuous focus on employee development alongside with the operations managers. You will also be responsible for ensuring a financially successful venue.

Some of your responsibilities will include:


    • Maternity cover – 6 months contract with possibility of extending 
    • Full-time position (37.5h/week)
    • Weekend work necessary
    • Working hours: between 9am to 11pm.



    • Create staffing schedules with the assurance that all shifts are regularly covered.
    • Lead by example and maintain consistent accountability for reports – training and coaching staff members, customers & athletes incidentes – to provide exceptional customer service.
    • Administer and process all weekly/monthly employee hours.
    • Prepare and submit all HR related forms in a timely manner.
    • Resolve employee issues or concerns in a professional manner.
    • Manage disciplinary activities in conjunction with Operations Managers.
    • Provide backup support for any employee who is absent.
    • Follow and implement the “Olympian Way ethos”.



    • Greet members and guests, providing exceptional customer service and doing your best to make members feel comfortable and welcomed!
    • Answer phones in a friendly manner and assist callers with a variety of questions – on site hours.
    • Check members in, tour and sign up new members, log amenities and communicate updates and events to members and guests.
    • Respond to member questions and concerns in a timely and professional manner.
    • Conduct merchandise/other stock and audit/feedback reports.

    • Direct members to our website or to our office administration staff.



    • Keep the lobby area clean and orderly.
    • Regular facility cleaning and to a good standard such as mopping the floor, equipment maintenance, trash removal (if necessary), cleaning windows and mirrors (if necessary), etc.
    • Regular cleaning/check of all exercise equipment and toilets following routine cleaning schedule (if applicable).
    • Oversee the safety of employees, members and club property by determining when equipment or facilities are in need of repair and communicating to Operations managers in a timely manner.



    • Collection of merchandise orders for the venue
    • Drop off monies for merchandise to the Office (if needed).
    • Oversee the ordering of club supplies using specific budget based on club requirements (equipment, marketing, others, etc).
    • Track Key Performance Indicators such as registrations, guest counts, cancels, info calls (weekly, monthly, annually).
    • Produce marketing plan for the year and constant reviews.
    • Appraisals for staff members in conjunction with Operations manager.
    • Manage marketing efforts by ensuring that staff is aware and trained on all marketing promotions implemented in the venue/company.



  • 1 year of customer service experience is preferred, preferably in the fitness/sports industry.
  • High school diploma (minimum).
  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Gymnastics background – preferably as a coach or willing to undergo training.
  • First Aid Certification (plus).
  • Safeguarding level 1 (plus).
  • Garda vetting (position is dependent on approval).
  • Basic computer proficiency (Microsoft office).
  • Superior problem solving skills.
  • Exceptional leadership and diplomacy skills.
  • A passion for sports, health, recreation and fitness.



  • Continual standing and walking during shift.
  • Continual talking in person or on the phone during shift.
  • Must be able to lift up heavy equipment.
  • Will occasionally encounter toxic chemicals during shift (bleach, etc.).
